The mind is like an ocean – turbulent on the surface but still at its depths. With Transcendental Meditation (TM) you dive below the surface level of thoughts, settling the body and mind. It’s an easy but powerful technique to access inner calm, clarity and peace, which you can integrate into all aspects of life. And all this from your very first meditation.
TM does not involve concentration or control of thoughts. It’s a natural technique which allows both body and mind to experience deep rest, automatically resulting in rejuvenation and relaxation. And it’s easy! All you need is to be able to think a thought.
How it works →
The first experience of transcending is very unique, as is the pace of learning. Therefore, proper instruction can only be given by a qualified teacher, in the form of a private lesson. However, the follow-up sessions can be completed in-person or remotely using the TM app.

With over 650 scientific research studies, 400 of which were published in peer-reviewed journals, carried out in 250 universities and research institutes in over 30 countries around the world, TM is by far the most extensively researched form of meditation.

TM stems from the Vedic tradition of ancient India, dating back to prehistoric times. The word ‘Veda’ means knowledge, and this tradition involves the passing down of knowledge from teacher to disciple over countless generations.
Where it comes from →
As TM is easy to learn and practice, it’s a clear choice for schools looking to support the wellbeing of their students and staff, and has been implemented in schools around the world with great success. We call it the Quiet Time programme.

TM teachers and experts explain:
With Transcendental Meditation, you learn a technique for independent practice. This means that once you have completed a course, you are no longer reliant on a teacher, recordings or an app for your daily meditations. Both in-person and hybrid options are available.
In person or online, listen to a qualified teacher give an overview of what TM is, the benefits it offers and how you can learn it. The talks are free, without obligation and last 60 to 90 minutes.
Meet your teacher for a brief private conversation about your current state of health, previous experience etc. Here you’ll set the details of the course such as timings and the appropriate fee.
On the first day you’ll learn TM in a 1-on-1 session. Then three essential meetings take place over the next three days, usually in small groups. Each session lasts 1.5 – 2 hours.
Several meetings, both individual and group, are offered over the following six months. This allows for discussion of experiences and deepening of understanding of TM.
The TM course package offers a professional service provided by a certified teacher and the continuous support of an international organisation. Course fees vary internationally, depending on the average income of the country.
